The Advantage

In John 16:7 Jesus tells His disciples, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth.  It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you." (NKJV)

The "advantage" of which Jesus of Nazareth, the only Savior of the world, was speaking is the Holy Spirit of God.  In May of 1998 I personally received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and what an advantage He has given me all these years.  He counsels me, guides me, declares things to me, speaks to me, helps me, leads me into all truth, gives me fruit (Galatians 5:22,23), and showers me with gifts (1st Corinthians 12:1-11) that only He has to give.  Those are advantages that non-believers certainly do not have, and sadly, many confession Christians are not aware that they have.

Every sports team, every athlete, every corporation with a product, every politician, every state and nation, etc. in the world's system desires an "advantage" over their competitor.  Christians, I encourage you to desire the "advantage" which Jesus Christ sent on the day of Pentecost to fill our hearts.  Get to know Him, spend time with Him, fellowship with Him, and develop a close relationship with Him.  It is a life advantage that you will cherish.

For those of you who are not believers in Jesus Christ, I pray you will ask Him to forgive you of your sins, confess Him as Lord and let Him give you a life advantage that will last forever.

In Christ,

Lynden Hall
